Welcome to Hertford Writers’ Circle

Encounters by Hertford Writers CircleHere you can find out about us, when and where we meet, and get a taste of our members’ work.

You can also buy copies of our anthologies, and other books we have published.

Hertford Writers’ Circle is an active and friendly group of writers: between us we span a wide range of experience, background and genres that we work in. We have members working on novels, short stories, poetry, plays, screenplays, as well as non-fiction such as travel writing, local history, science and family history.

Some of us have publications to our name, some have not (yet); some have completed full length novels while others are still thinking about their first paragraph! All of us are passionate about writing and keen to develop our craft.

Michael Dobbs is new HWC Patron

Bestselling author Michael Dobbs has agreed to be the patron of Hertford Writers’ Circle.

Michael Dobbs – who as Lord Dobbs of Wylye is also a working peer – grew up near Hertford and went to Hertford Grammar School, now Richard Hale School. He said it would be “an honour” to support Hertford writers.

Best known for his political thriller ‘House of Cards’, which hit the TV screens this year in a new remake starring Kevin Spacey, Michael Dobbs is also the author of the Harry Jones thrillers and a new play about Winston Churchill and Guy Burgess. Find out more on www.michaeldobbs.com
